SKYLAB RADIO

Skylab Radio is an independent online community radio station and cultural platform based in Naarm/Melbourne. Co-founded in 2018, the station was built to give a platform to presenters who don't already have one — championing the city's eclectic music, artistic flair and cultural inclusiveness through weekly broadcasts and community events.

Since launch Skylab has aired over 3,500 shows from 2,500+ artists, with every broadcast archived on the website and app. The station now reaches around 230,000 web users a year, with 7,600 dedicated app users across iOS and Android, 17,000 Instagram followers, 3,500 weekly tune-ins and 750+ paying 'LabPartner' subscribers whose support sustains an ad-free model. Listenership spans Melbourne, Australia and a growing international audience across the UK, US, Germany, Japan and beyond.

Skylab now broadcasts from a purpose-built studio inside High Note Bar at the Northcote Theatre, supported by a core team of five music professionals working across programming, digital development and audience engagement. Australian artists who have debuted on the station include Logic1000, Glass Beams, Wax'O Paradiso, Memphis LK, Jennifer Loveless and many more — alongside international guests like Bradley Zero, Eris Drew, Eddie Chacon, Eliza Rose, Flowdan and Sherelle.

My work on Skylab has covered everything from the business model and partnerships through to studio operations, broadcast workflows and hands-on technical setup. It's the side of my practice that keeps things tangible — and keeps me directly connected to the independent music culture and grassroots communities that drive it.
